Fire Department Lessons at Weaver

We are thankful to have had the Norwich Fire Department visit Weaver classrooms delivering two different and important messages.

The firefighters first visited with 7th grade Language Arts students in Ms. Santagata’s classes. Their message was “Reading is crucial in their profession!” They do so much more than fight fires. The men brought in their books and binders showing the students what they must study to become a firefighter as well as answered the students’ questions about their profession.

The following day the fire department returned visiting Mrs. Daltons’s classroom to teach about fire safety and how to handle emergency situations. The students were also able to explore the inside of a fire truck.

Giving students authentic learning opportunities prepares them to be Ready for Tomorrow.
