Engaging Students in Math

students using m&m's for math problems

Weaver students in Mrs. Packard’s Math 7 classes have been working hard on probability concepts. With the help of M&M’s, students were able to explore and compare theoretical and experimental probabilities through a series of hands on experiments. We know that it is important to engage students in meaningful mathematical discussions for there to be essential mathematics learning. Using M&M’s is one fun way for teachers to open the door to better discussions. And we are very proud at how cooperative the students were with the safe disposal of the candy!
