Design Thinking for New Lunch Options

Seventh grade Honors Core Infusion student Alexa, joins Dave Wilson, director of Aramark, in an effort to provide culturally diverse food choices to the students of Hilliard. 

Through the design thinking process, Alexa thought of the idea as a way to help students from diverse backgrounds to have a taste of their culture represented in the cafeteria. She conducted interviews and a survey with students from the Newcomer Center and then reported results to Wilson who experimented with recipes. One afternoon, students at the Hub were able to sample the recipes which included arepas, tamales, guacamole, hummus, and several kinds of sushi. Thanks to Alexa, our students will be able to enjoy foods with thought.
