Daniella Santos ran in the Footlocker Midwest Regional in Kenosha, WI, and finished 9th overall. The top 10 runners make the Midwest team to go to the national finals. Only 40 girls across the nation get the chance each year to compete at this level. It’s the Super Bowl of XC! She now moves on to the tough Balboa Park in San Diego against the nations’ best.
Coach Jon Agriesti says, “Daniella ran an amazing race, placing herself in the top five up the starting hill. She showed great strength getting through the muddy / hilly course and found courage in the last 400m to place in a qualifying position. She ran tough when it counted most.”
Daniella is the 2nd runner in Hilliard history (boys or girls) to make the event since it was established in 1979. India Johnson of Davidson qualified in 2017.
