Late in April, our Student Support Services Department brought students from across the district and from all ages, who are hard of hearing together for a “Celebrate You” event.
This event helped to build student advocacy, discuss social skills in different situations and get students’ feedback on how our program can improve upon to meet their needs. Several of our secondary high school students took leadership roles during group activities even facilitating group discussions. A graphic novel about a student with an amplification device was the springboard for many of the group discussions. Two of our district Occupational Therapists, Nicole Ludban and Amy Wagner, gave the group a demonstration of Drum Fit.
