In the fall, The Columbus Association for Performing Arts, or CAPA, announced a new program called the Marquee Awards. CAPA is committed to celebrating, supporting, and advocating for high school musical theatre education throughout central Ohio.
During the school year, Darby theatre students were able to participate in master class workshops given by the traveling companies that were in residence for CAPA. The cast of Aladdin taught a dance class. The cast of Hamilton taught a movement class. The cast of The Play the Goes Wrong taught a tech class. These classes were full of information and techniques that our theatre students will use for a lifetime.
On Tuesday, May 7, CAPA announced the nominees for the inaugural season of the CAPA Marquee Awards. There are eleven categories and Hilliard Darby Theatre was nominated for Outstanding Orchestra Performance and Backstage Excellence Award for our production crew. On Monday, June 3rd, Hilliard Darby Theatre will attend a red carpet event at the Lincoln Theatre. The first CAPA Marquee Awards will be awarded then.
Please join us in celebrating these students and staff members who worked so hard for this honor.
