Bake Sales ~ multiple dates
The PTO holds bake sales several times throughout the school year. This includes Election Days, and most of our social events. We appreciate all donated items, homemade or store-bought.
Grant Writing Committee
Many companies support school-related activities—educational programs, fitness and nutrition awareness, school equipment, etc.…. All we have to do is ask! Volunteers explore available grant options that meet Britton’s needs and work together to draft the application and submit a completed form.
We schedule either COSI on Wheels or Carnegie Mellon Science on the Road. This is a fun-filled, all-day event. Throughout the day, trained parent volunteers will assist children as they move through various stations. Shifts are generally morning and/or afternoon.
The second Tuesday of each month is when Take-a-Taste takes place. Volunteers are needed to help pass out pre-cut fruits and vegetables to students during their lunch period. Volunteers can sign up for one or two hours.
The Publishing Shop volunteers assist students and teachers throughout the year to assemble student’s written work in a bound and published form. No special publishing skills required!
Our annual phone book of Britton students: includes student names organized by classroom as well as optional information about parents, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. All information is provided on a voluntary basis. Advertising space is available for sale. Each Britton family will receive one free directory.
Need a folder, more paper or a fresh new pencil with an eraser? Just send your student to the Britton School Store on Thursdays this school year. Parent volunteers needed from 8:50-9:05 am (store closed on late start days and during testing).
Occasionally volunteers help with school events as assistants or aides to the staff. Volunteers are requested on an as-needed basis upon request from the school or district offices. Be sure you are not only subscribed to Britton_eNews, but “like” Britton PTO on Facebook for updates.
Staff Appreciation Week
During this nationally recognized celebration, we strive to create various ways to thank and highlight the educators and staff members who touch our children’s lives. Volunteers will help plan special treats throughout the week to pamper our Britton Staff.
Teacher Conference Weeks
We offer meals and baked goods to the staff during teacher conference weeks in the fall and winter as a thank you for their hard work and the extra-long days during these times.
This is a great way to get to know your child’s teacher, classmates, and other parents! We hold a half hour meeting at the beginning of the school year to inform you of the expectations with this title, which include throwing two classroom parties, coordinating a present for your classroom teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week, and helping with door decorations once or twice a year.
We hold PTO meetings on the first Monday of each month, except for September and December. All parents are welcome to attend and join the discussion about past, current, and future events.
Just-for-Fun Socials for Britton Families
Our most popular social gathering is the annual Monster Mash. Families are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes, and dance the night away. There will be costume contests in several categories, and art craft, bake sale, photo booth, and a classic movie showing in a quiet area.
There will be musical performances by the Britton Winter choir, and a number of things to do to make this a fun and special day for everyone. The Holiday Shoppe will also be open. Volunteers will be needed for set-up/tear-down and various activities during the event.
Multicultural Night celebrates the diversity of Britton, and our world. Families will share stories, artifacts, and food from their ancestral cultures. Volunteers will be needed to help decorate, set up, serve, and clean up. Donations of food items will be needed.
This is a fantastic event to end our year! Games, music, prizes, inflatables and food! Volunteers will be needed to set up, serve, and clean up.
