Avery Students Participate in Global Read Aloud

Hilliard City Schools

Students showing artwork on the iPadMelissa Hayes second grade class is participating in the Global Read Aloud. This year the book is Fenway and Hattie. Being a part of this worldwide event gives the students a chance to collaborate with classes across the globe. They share connections, favorite parts, mental images, and points of view with others. The class has communicated with other classes via Twitter, Flipgrid, and Padlet. They also participated in a Skype with new friends from Texas, and soon will be participating in a Google Hangout with friends from Canada.

The Global Read Aloud explains “Global collaboration is necessary to show students that they are part of something bigger than them. That the world needs to be protected and that we need to care for all people.”
