Alton Darby Elementary eNews

Good afternoon ADE Families!

Thank you to the many community members who joined us for our informational meetings this week regarding the Alton Darby Creek Campus merge.  We are excited to welcome our incoming Kindergarten students to Darby Creek for the 2020-21 school year, as the first phase of this transition.  As stated in the linked presentation that was shared on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, all K-2 students will be attending the Alton Darby Building and all 3-5th graders will be attending the Darby Creek Building starting the academic year 2021-22.

We appreciate the feedback we have received as a result of these meetings and this information.  Please take a moment to fill out this google form to share your wonders and hopes with us as we move forward with this process.  Your input is important to us! We will be using our parent updates and the Alton Darby Creek Website (currently being built) in addition to opportunities at our PTO meetings and Parent-Teacher Committee meetings to share information and answers to the common questions and concerns that arise through your feedback.  The focus of the parent committee meetings will be determined from the common themes that emerge from community responses on this google form.

Our Parent-Teacher Committee meetings are scheduled for the following dates from

6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.:

April 7 at the Alton Darby Building

April 15 at the Darby Creek Building

April 28 at the Alton Darby Building

May 7 at the Darby Creek Building

As always, should you have specific and unique questions or concerns that would be best addressed through a personal phone call or face to face meeting, please do not hesitate to contact Cindy Teske, principal at the Darby Creek Building, or me.

Family Fun Day Teacher Raffle

Family Fun Day is quickly approaching on Saturday, March 14th (Pi Day)!  The teacher raffle is a fun way for students to participate and potentially win fun prizes!  This was a big contributor to the total revenue of Family Fun Day last year…over $600! Teachers and staff members donate items (or time for an activity) that students can purchase raffle tickets.  Winners are chosen on Family Fun Day (although you don’t have to be there at the time of the drawing to win).  We are planning to sell tickets at lunch the whole week of March 9th and need help from parents and volunteers. All that is required is helping students purchase tickets (making change), writing their name and placing in the raffle envelope of their choice.  Here is a link  to sign up and participate in the fun!  We hope you can join us for Family Fun Day!

Hilliard Helps AG with Threat Assessment Training

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced the development of new resources to address gaps in preventing targeted violence in schools. Training curriculum now available free for local school administrators, law enforcement and others focuses on stopping violence before it starts.

Hilliard Superintendent John Marschhausen is proud to join members of the Hilliard Division of Police in these training videos.  “The Hilliard Police and Hilliard Schools contributed their expertise to help my office develop these threat assessment training materials,” said Attorney General Yost. “They’re ahead of the curve in implementing these protocols, yet continue to review others’ best-practices. That’s the strength of this program: sharing information to help prevent violence, rather than just reacting to stop it once it’s already happening.”
