2D Art Skills Put to Work

students showing their iPad work

Recently, students in Ms. Roholt’s 2D Art created yearbook cover designs to be considered for the school yearbook. They built upon their learning in prior lessons by incorporating elements and principles of art to create a balanced composition that would attract attention and appeal to their clients at Weaver Middle School. Students were encouraged to utilize traditional 2D Art techniques, such as watercolor painting, collage, and acrylic textures, in combination with digital overlays of fonts and logos. This project allowed for real-world application and gave students a connection to the school and community. The covers were sent to the Yearbook Club, who chose the winning design, which will be revealed when yearbooks are distributed toward the end of the year.
