April is School Library Media Month

School libraries are active hubs for inquiry, technology, and literacies of many types, as well as open, safe havens for all students. So the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) has designated April to bring attention to the critical roles school libraries play in the life of a building. This year’s spokesperson is reading and writing rock star, Jason Reynolds, who came to Weaver Middle School and Bradley High School last fall. At Weaver, Jason’s visit set off a chain reaction of reading, discussing, questioning, writing – and eight more author visits! The most recent two authors to visit were Ohio authors, Mindy McGinnis and Margaret Peterson Haddix, this past week. Mindy, who writes teen books, shared stories about her research, writing, and what makes her tick.
