City of Hilliard Roundabout Project

Information Sheet for Scioto Darby Elementary

The City of Hilliard’s Roundabout Project is now well underway in the area where Main Street intersects with Cemetery Road and Scioto Darby Road. In an effort to keep our parents and school community informed of the construction activity and traffic changes in front of our school properties along Scioto Darby Road, we have created this information sheet to provide the most recent information from the City of Hilliard and information concerning access to and from our school buildings.

For ongoing, up-to-date information and a timeline concerning the City’s construction project, go to the City of Hilliard’s Web site at www.cityofhilliard.com and click on the "Hilliard Triangle Project" icon. This site also allows residents to sign up to receive email alerts or updates on the construction progress.

Please review the information below to prepare your child(ren) for returning to school this year. Student safety is our first and foremost concern as we prepare our ingress and egress plans for the school buildings in the construction zone. Please contact your building principal if you have any further questions or concerns.

Construction Zone

ϖ Please see the attached map provided by the City of Hilliard for a complete visual of the current construction in progress and back-to-school traffic patterns.

Student Walkers

ϖ All student walkers must stay out of the work zone. DO NOT climb barricades or cross into work zones. Students should follow the city sidewalks and directional signage to remain in the designated walk areas.

ϖ All students who walk to and from school should continue to cross Scioto Darby Rd. at Heywood Dr. in front of the building.

ϖ We have requested police assistance from the City of Hilliard to safely cross our students during the hours when students are traveling to and from school. It is important that students do not linger after school, but immediately walk home to take advantage of the police assistance.

School Buses

ϖ We strongly encourage all eligible bus riders to utilize the bus service during this construction period.

ϖ Only buses are permitted to use the bus loop in front of the building.

Parents

ϖ Parents who choose to drive their student(s) to and from school will continue to pick up and drop off as in the past. However, all vehicles will have to exit southbound on High School Dr. to Scioto Darby Dr. High School Dr. will be closed at Cemetery Rd.

ϖ Please be aware of students walking to and from school. With the altered traffic patterns and confusion of the construction zone, we ask all drivers to slow down and use extra caution in and around our school properties. Remember, drivers must yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.

ϖ Finally, be mindful of changing traffic patterns as the City moves through this construction project. For the latest information, always check the City of Hilliard’s Web site.

ϖ Traffic will be congested. Please plan accordingly, use caution and practice patience.

Once again, with our students’ safety in mind, we ask you to be ever mindful of your surroundings and use extreme caution as you enter and exit our school properties. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to react and adjust to the changing traffic patterns in the area of the City of Hilliard’s Roundabout Project.
