Kindergarten Registration/Screening Information

2008-09 Registration

If your child will be five years of age on or before September 30th, he/she is eligible to begin kindergarten.

Please obtain a Kindergarten Registration packet from the District’s Records Compliance Officer by calling (614) 771-4273 x 7096 or by stopping by the Central Office receptionist's desk.

Return completed forms to the Records Compliance Office located at the central office annex.

2009-10 Screening Information

Frequently Asked Questions:

1.  What do I need to bring to my child’s screening appointment?
You should bring the packet you received at registration night with the necessary forms completed. We will also need to copy the child’s birth certificate, immunization record, parent proof of residency, proof of custody (if applicable) or proof of “pending” custody. If you are unsure about what to bring, please call our Records Compliance Officer at 921-7096. Only completed packets with all required documents will be processed.

2.  What should I expect during screening?
District-trained kindergarten screeners will screen your child. This is not a pass/fail screening. A school nurse will evaluate general health: vision, speech and any learning-related function will also be evaluated. Your child will spend a short time listening to a story, playing and interacting with other children. You can expect this process to take approximately 30-45 minutes.

3.  When and where can I apply for an intra-district building transfer?
The district transfer process for the 2008-09 school year is completed. Forms for the 2009-10 school year will be made available at a date to be determined.

Transfer forms must be completed and returned to:  Mrs. Leslie McNaughton, Assistant Superintendent, 5323 Cemetery Road, Hilliard, OH 43026. 

4. What if I did not attend the February 5th registration night?
Please obtain a Kindergarten Registration packet from the District’s Records Compliance Officer by calling (614) 771-4273 x 7096, by stopping by the Central Office receptionist's desk or by downloading the online packet.
