Mr. Michael Heitzman, Principal
I have a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Capital University and a Masters degree from the University of Dayton in Educational Leadership. Before coming to Norwich, I taught for six years as a second/third grade teacher at Alton Darby Elementary, and served as the Intervention Teacher at Horizon Elementary. The 2018-2019 school year will be my 9th year in this role at Norwich!
I am blessed with a wonderful family support system. My wife is a pediatrician in Pickerington. We have incredibly happy children (Drew, Kate, and Addy) who bring great joy to our lives. We live in Gahanna to be close to our family.
I strive to lead Norwich in ways that fosters continued growth in teaching, learning, community engagement, and social development. As co-principal, I have the following goals:
-To use data properly to engage the school community in conversation and the development and implementation of best instructional practices that meet the needs of diverse learners and build 21st Century learning skills (creativity, collaboration, and communication) in students.
-To foster the mission of school that aims at developing our students as caring and compassionate children, problem solvers, and lifelong learners.
-To promote the ideal that all students can learn when taught in unique ways and at different rates and to foster this ideal in teaching and learning.
-To promote communication and to be responsive to school community needs and concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
-To develop our school community as good stewards of the school building and grounds.
-To celebrate the unique history of Norwich.
-To collaborate with the school community to promote high standards in teaching that continues to challenge and support students and promotes high student achievement and the overall mission and vision of the Hilliard City School District.
-To take lots of time to get to know the students of Norwich individually and to celebrate their successes everyday!
You are welcome at our school anytime! I look forward to meeting you and for the opportunity to serve the students, families, and teachers of Norwich Elementary and Hilliard City Schools. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime by email at Michael_Heitzman@hboe.org or at the school office at 614-921-6000.
My name is Sharon Balduf and I am so honored to join the Norwich family for the 2018-2019 school year and I can’t wait to watch our students learn, grow and have fun each day at school.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary/Special Education from Bowling Green State University and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Ohio State University.
My husband Tom and I have four children and four grandchildren. We have a wonderful family that we love and appreciate each day.
In 2002 I opened the first HCSD Preschool building and served as the building Principal. It was such a joy to be part of the early learning process and help students transition to their school age years. I am excited to reunite with many of my former Preschool students and parents!
I will strive to lead Norwich with the dedication and commitment that Mr. Heitzman has established.
I believe that all students can learn and feel good about themselves when given opportunities to communicate, work cooperatively with others and find their place in the school community.
I will follow the well designed eight goals currently implemented for our learning community and hopefully will bring additional ideas and experiences to help our students grow.
I have an open door policy for our parents, so please feel free to stop in and see me when you are in the building. If you have any questions, please contact me at: Sharon_balduf@hboe.org or at the school office at 614-921-6000.
