January 29, 2010 International Festival, "Many Faces One CommUNITY

International Festival, “Many Faces One CommUNITY”

As part of our continuing efforts to celebrate the diversity of our schools and community, the Multicultural Steering Committee of Hilliard City Schools is sponsoring an International Festival entitled, “Many Faces One CommUNITY”, on Saturday March 6th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, at Weaver Middle School. The Festival will consist of booths representing many of the different cultures and nationalities of the students in our district. We are also inviting restaurants to bring ethnic food to sell. In addition, there will be a display of student artwork, entertainment provided by students at various schools as well as outside groups, and a children's activity corner.

If you have a culture you are willing to share, we would love for you to bring in items representing that culture to display and/or sell at the Festival. Included in the global cultures outside of the United States that we celebrate, we hope to represent Native American nations and Appalachian culture. We will have one booth for each culture or country, which may require combining resources if we have more than one person from the same cultural background. It is our hope that you would also be willing to serve as a resource person at the booth to talk with people who come through the exhibits.  If you would prefer not to provide a booth, we could also use general help at the doors, at the activity center, or in the food booths.
