Testimonials:

Career Mentorship is not only a class to me but it is more of life experience that I will be able to carry with me and use in the future. . . I am so happy I decided to apply!”
Career Mentorship helps us not only know the career field we want to go into, but also helps us start obtaining the habits that responsible adults possess.
Before this class, I ‘knew’ I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up but I wasn’t focused on the necessary steps that would help me to reach that goal.

If you are a junior or senior and are interested in discovering your passion and future college and career path, this course is for you!

Career Mentorship 1

Gain real-world experience while in school! Students explore career possibilities by learning from members of the business community who offer experience and expertise in the student’s career field of interest. Explore post-secondary options and discover how to coordinate personal and career responsibilities. Students identify interests and strengths, prepare a resume, practice interviewing, and develop effective communication and leadership skills among other life planning activities. Throughout the course, students will create a website and online portfolio to share their experiences with future colleges and employers. They will also complete a final exit interview with a professional in their career field, to help evaluate their skills and build their professional network for future opportunities. This course is flexible and can be worked around various schedules.

Career Mentorship 2

Students continue their mentorship experience by participating in an on-site placement and apply the skills learned in Mentorship 1 while learning new leadership skills for the future. Students may continue in the same career field in which they mentored previously or choose a different career field. Students will be responsible for attending seminars on a bi-weekly basis, blogging about their experiences, assisting with the Mentorship I class and continuing to develop their website. This course is flexible and can be worked around various schedules.
