Abraham Lincoln said “I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.” On February 26 at noon, Hilliard Schools will host its next Online Lunch with the Superintendent. I will be joined by Treasurer Brian Wilson and we will be discussing the district’s current financial picture and sharing information about the value Hilliard Schools’ provides to residents. This is a great opportunity for all parents and residents in our school system to get the real facts about the district’s fiscal management during a time when we are not in financial crisis.
I am a firm believer in embracing our community and discussing important issues with residents. We must have open lines of communication with not only our parents, but the community as well. This is the only way we can meet our mission of “ensuring every student is ready for tomorrow.” We will explore how the district’s financial management allows us to achieve this mission in greater detail on February 26 by looking at the value a school district provides.
School districts play a significant role in the value of one of the largest investments any of us will ever make – our homes. When a school district performs poorly and doesn’t provide the kinds of opportunities families want, people move away and home values drop. When school districts such as Hilliard provide the kinds of opportunities students need to be ready for the workforce of tomorrow, then home values remain strong.
As an active community partner, it is our goal to share with you how the choices we make for students in the classroom impact not only the district’s finances, but ultimately the value we provide to the community. Please take a few minutes and join the discussion on February 26 to get the real facts about Hilliard Schools’ financial management practices.
