Redistricting process enters next phase
The members of the Redistricting Committee finalized their maps this week and will begin preparing for Community Forums set for February and March where the various maps will be displayed.
Attendance boundaries for the entire district are being redrawn to allow for the opening of the 14th elementary this fall and the third high school in 2009. A group of more than 90 people – parents, non-parent residents, city officials and staff members -- have been studying the issue since September.
Community members are invited to attend one or both of the forums scheduled for Feb. 27 at Hilliard Heritage Middle School or March 14 at Hilliard Weaver Middle School. The maps will be available for viewing beginning at 5:30 p.m. both evenings, while a formal presentation of the proposals -- along with an opportunity for public input -- will start at 7 p.m.
The maps will then be presented to the Board on March 26, which will study and discuss the options, voting at a subsequent meeting this spring.
