Elementary Program Information
A Curriculum with Coherence
The curriculum connects rather than fragments learning for students. Academic disciplines are integrated and classroom learning is clearly related to the lives of students. The curriculum:
- is created by teachers for the students using state standards and the goals and objectives established by the district;
- focuses on literacy, broadly defined to include language arts, mathematics, and the fine and performing arts;
- encourages the use of rich literature;
- uses many and varied forms of assessment;
- uses eight unifying themes to organize and integrate curriculum.
