In compliance with Senate Bill 311, the Hilliard City School District will offer students the opportunity to earn high school credit(s) through a credit flexibility program beginning with the 2010-2011 school year. Credit flex shifts the focus from evaluating student learning based on seat time to assessing students demonstrated academic and skill level or performance. Learn More
Superintendent's MessageI am writing this final column for the year on the last day of school before summer break, and I am always amazed how quickly the year goes by! The 2009-10 school year has been a busy and exciting one, beginning last August with the Excellent with Distinction rating on our 2008-09 state report card, quickly followed by the opening of our new Hilliard Bradley High School and culminating with the graduation of nearly 1,000 seniors last week. Grant AwardedThe Hilliard Education Foundation awarded Bradley teacher Lora Moore with a $2,500 grant. The grant will fund a new choral work for Bradley Symphonic Choir and it will be dedicated to the high school's first graduating senior class. The choral work will be created by internationally-known composer Joseph M. Martin from Austin, TX, in collaboration with students. Martin will also be part of a "master format" concert via teleconference where he will participate during a concert and will be able to interact with the student performers and audience members.
New 7th Grade Booster RequirementEffective with the 2010-2011 school year, the Ohio Department of Health is requiring all students entering 7th grade to show written proof of a booster dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap), or tetanus and diphtheria (Td). This shot is intended to be a booster dose for students who completed the initial series of DTaP/DT/Td which was required for entry into Kindergarten. Some students may have already received this vaccine. Please review your student's immunization records and/or call your physician to determine if your student still needs this booster vaccine. Written proof of the booster vaccine includes a copy of your student's immunization record or a signed statement from your health care provider listing the Tdap or Td immunization and date it was administered. Records should be sent to your student's middle school. Learn More
