Community
Hilliard is a suburban, residential community located northwest of Columbus, Ohio. Hilliard City School District encompasses approximately sixty square miles in northwest Franklin County, including the City of Hilliard. The community and school district are among the fastest growing in the State of Ohio. Hilliard City Schools has an enrollment of more than 15,000 students making it the ninth largest public school district in Ohio. A large percentage of the students are college bound. The majority of the school district's 90,000 residents are business, professional and blue-collar workers.
School
Hilliard Darby High School's inaugural year was 1997-1998. Hilliard Darby High School, a four-year comprehensive public school of 2244 students including 489 seniors, is fully accredited by The State of Ohio Department of Education. School is in session 183 days a year. The academic year is divided into two semesters with nine-week grading periods. Class periods are fifty minutes in length.
Faculty
Hilliard Darby High School has 165 certificated professional staff. Of the certificated staff, 70% have earned advanced degrees.
Graduation Requirements
Darby is a comprehensive secondary school that includes college preparatory, honors, Advanced Placement, dual enrollment, occupational, vocational, and adjustment programs. Passing all five sections of The Ohio Graduation Test is required of students beginning with the Class of 2007. Twenty-one units of credit are required for graduation. Those credits must include:

Advanced Placement and Honors
Advanced Placement courses are offered in English Literature and Composition, U.S. Government & Politics, U.S. History, European History, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, Biology, French, German, Spanish and Computer Science. Honors opportunities are available in English 9, English 10, and beginning 2005-06 also in Science 9, Biology and Chemistry.
Post Secondary Enrollment Option
The state sponsored dual enrollment option is available to all students who meet the requirements of respective post secondary institutions. In addition concurrent enrollment options are offered in English Literature and Physics through Kenyon College.
Class Rank
Class rank is determined by the G.P.A. The student with the highest G.P.A. is ranked first, second highest is ranked second, etc.
