When you see Box Tops, clip them and send them to school with your child. You can send them in at anytime of the school year. Look for Box Tops coupons on products from Avery, Betty Crocker, Bisquick, Brita, General Mills, Gold Medal, Green Giant, Hamburger Helper, Hefty, Kleenex, Land o Lakes, Mott’s, Nature Valley, Nestle, Ocean Spray, Old El Paso, Pillsbury, Progresso, Scott, Totino’s, Viva, Yoplait, and Ziploc.
Labels for Education
Cut these labels off and send them to school with your child. Participating products include BIC, Campbell’s, Dannon, Emerald, Franco-American, GLAD, Pace, Pepperidge Farms, Pop Secret, Post, Prego, Swanson, V8 and Market Day products as well. Don’t forget to register your Giant Eagle or Kroger Plus cards at www.elabelsforeducation.com – Britton gets credit for your purchase and the labels when they’re turned in.
Tyson Project A+
Collect labels from participating Tyson products from your grocer’s freezer section and send them to school with your child. Each label is worth $0.24 and can be used to sponsor programs or purchase supplies.
Ink & Toner Cartridge Recycling
Drop off empty ink/toner cartridges and place them in the Cartridge World recycle box located at the main entrance of our school. Or send them in with your child (please keep ink cartridges in a baggie). These help off-set the cost of ink cartridges for our classrooms.
Giant Eagle’s Apples for Education
If you shop at Giant Eagle, it’s as easy as 1-2-3 to earn money for Britton Elementary with the Apples for the Students Program:  Register at www.gianteagle.com or call 1-800-474-4777;  Enter our School ID#4950; and  Shop with your Giant Eagle Advantage Card. Every time your Advantage Card is scanned, you help our School earn points to redeem for valuable educational tools!
Target’s Take Charge of Education Program
If you shop at Target and use a Target REDcard or Target Visa Credit Card, please take a few minutes to visit Target.com/tcoe, or call 1-800-316-6142 or visit any in-store kiosk, and sign up for the Take Charge of Education Program designating Britton Elementary as your school of choice. Once you do, Target will donate 1% of your Target Visa Credit Card or REDcard purchases at any Target store and Target.com and 1/2% of your purchases made elsewhere back to Britton. These funds can be used to improve our playground, purchase books, and more. Britton’s School ID#: 84204
Fall Fundraiser ~ September
New this year: All American Fundraising is a sales brochure-type fundraising program. They offer a wide variety of gift ideas from household items, gift wrap, and candles to deli food, jewelry and fine chocolates. This is our primary fundraiser, and we hope to raise enough money to cover almost all of our yearly PTO expenses. They have wonderful incentives for the students, and we look forward to working with them this year.
Book Fair ~ Fall/Spring
Britton’s Book Fairs bring hundreds of reasonably-priced books to our school. This school-wide event encourages students and parents to support reading both inside and outside the classroom. Volunteers assist with set-up, customer service and/or take down of this temporary bookstore.
Holiday Gift Shoppe ~ December
During their recess period at school, kids with busy weekend schedules get their shopping done for all of their gift-giving occasions.
Market Day ~ Monthly
Market Day is a monthly food service that gives us the opportunity to raise funds for our school while providing restaurant-quality food for sale to our families. Volunteers assist with the set-up and distribution of ordered items after school— once a month (maximum).
Outdoor Education Plant Sales: Poinsettias~November; Spring Flowers~May
Britton teachers head the Outdoor Education (OE) committee and coordinate the sale of high-quality plants to fund the ongoing plans and beautification of the OE Garden. Volunteers assist with plant delivery/pick-up days, as well as tallying orders and counting funds.
Spirit Nights ~ Monthly
Local Businesses and Restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds to our school. Show up on the announced date/time, enjoy a night out with the family, and mention that you are supporting Britton Elementary school.
Spring Fundraiser ~ Walk-a-thon
This fundraiser is a fun and fit activity for kindergarteners through fifth-graders to help raise funds, self-esteem and fitness awareness. Volunteers needed for before, during and after event. Lots of chances to help with this important event.
Grant Writing Committee
Many companies support school-related activities—educational programs, fitness and nutrition awareness, school equipment, etc…. All we have to do is ask! Volunteers explore available grant options that meet Britton’s needs and work together to draft the application and submit a completed form.
We schedule either COSI on Wheels or Carnegie Mellon Science on the Road. This is a fun-filled, all-day event. Throughout the day, trained parent volunteers will assist children as they move through various stations. Shifts are generally morning and/or afternoon.
Fresh blacktop, new funnel ball poles, basketball nets, new benches and trash cans are just a few things the playground committee has been responsible for in the past. We are looking for parents who can help with ‘freshening up’ the outdoor play spaces.
The Publishing Shop volunteers assist students and teachers throughout the year to assemble student’s written work in a bound and published form. Volunteers work in two-hour shifts weekly, every other week, or once a month depending on number of volunteers. No special publishing skills required!
Our annual phone book of Britton students: includes student names organized by classroom as well as optional information about parents, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. All information is provided on a voluntary basis. Advertising space is available for sale. New this year: Each Britton family will receive one free directory.
Need a folder, more paper or a fresh new pencil with an eraser? Just send your student to the Britton School Store on Wednesdays this school year. Parent volunteers needed from 8:30-9:30 am (store closed on late start days). Schedule rotates based on number of volunteers.
Occasionally volunteers help with school events as assistants or aides to the staff—door monitors during election days, hearing/vision screenings, Kindergarten assessment day helpers, etc. Volunteers are requested on an as-needed basis upon request from the school or district offices. Staff Appreciation Week
During this nationally recognized celebration, we strive to create various ways to thank and highlight the educators and staff members who touch our children’s lives. Volunteers will help plan special treats throughout the week to pamper our Britton Staff.
Teacher Conference Weeks
We offer meals and baked goods to the staff during teacher conference weeks in the fall and winter as a thank you for their hard work and the extra long days during these times.
Britton PTO is happy to provide a light snack to students at various times throughout the school-year during district-scheduled testing dates. Volunteers will assist with counting out and delivering snacks to participating classrooms.
The Wellness Committee is dedicated to providing a school environment that improves and maintains children’s overall health, well-being, and ability to learn. This includes Take-a-Taste days for fresh produce, Walk-to-School days, fitness events and lots of great information for the kids and parents.
Just-for-Fun Socials for Britton Families
Breakfast/Dinner with Santa
Bring your children and your cameras— Santa Claus is coming to Britton! Families can eat breakfast/dinner, visit with Santa, and the kids can shop at the Holiday Gift Shoppe! There will be a number of things to do to make this a fun and special day for everyone. Volunteers will be needed for set-up/tear-down and various activities during the event.
Family Movie Nights
Bring the kids in their pajamas and make a pallet on the floor to watch a great movie surrounded by other Britton families. Volunteers needed for concessions, set-up/ tear-down and publicity.
Winter Social (Bingo or Sock Hop Dance)
Volunteers will be needed to help decorate, set up, serve, and clean up. Donations of food items will be needed.
This is a fantastic event to end our year! Games, music, prizes, inflatables and food! Volunteers will be needed to set up, serve, and clean up.
