Kindergarten/Pre-School Procedures

We hope that your first experience with school transportation will be a pleasant one for both you and your child. Riding the school bus for the first time can be an exciting experience for a little one. In an effort to make this a positive experience, there are a few details that you should know.

When school begins your student will need to attach the yellow “BUS INFORMATION” card on their book bag. The card must be worn every school day for the entire year. Students who are transported home at mid-day must be let off the bus to a parent, guardian or older sibling who is visible to the driver at the time. Please be at your student’s stop 10 minutes prior to the bus’ scheduled arrival time.

Kindergarten students who are transported home at the end of the school day may be let off the bus at a group bus stop with other Hilliard students. If the kindergartener’s stop is an individual stop, or there are no other students getting off the bus at the time, the kindergarten student must, again, be left off to the care of a parent, guardian or older sibling.

Transportation personnel provide bus safety instruction to pre-school, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students. Please discuss bus safety with your student. Impress upon them the importance of sitting in their seats and the safety issues involved. You also need to be aware that the drivers use hand signals when loading students and when students are crossing a roadway. Please have your student follow their hand signals.
